The Staff and Board of Directors of Oak Park Tennis Center appreciate your patience as we continue to work through the challenging times of this pandemic.

  • OPTC Members Only (no Guests until further notice)
  • Bring your own can of balls (use “foot-racquet” method to return to playing partners)
  • No water, no water refills, no towels provided (please bring enough water for yourself)
  • Players should not congregate in groups before or after playing tennis
  • Practice social-distancing before, during, and after play
  • Please do not come to the Club if you have any COVID-19 symptoms

Court reservations are strongly encouraged, and can be made through one of these 3 avenues:

COVID-19 Update:
OPTC Abbreviated Opening May 15, 2020

Oak Park Tennis Center Members, Friends, and Family,

We are excited to announce the Opening of OPTC (but in an abbreviated form), per “social-distancing limits” from the Governor, Village of River Forest, and the owners of our property (the Forest Preserves of Cook County).

We understand you are eager to play tennis, socialize with your tennis friends, and enjoy everything that Oak Park Tennis Center has to offer this summer and fall! Our commitment to you is to “get back to normal” as soon as it is safe to do so (based on State, Village, and Forest Preserve direction and approvals).

The safety of OPTC Members and Staff is our main priority, and we thank you for your patience and diligence in complying with the following short-term rules.

Until further notice, OPTC is open, but with short-term Protocols:

  • The Forest Preserve of Cook County will be monitoring (be responsible!!)
  • ONLY 10 PEOPLE may be on OPTC grounds at any given time
  • Singles-play only (60-minute time limit when other players waiting)
  • Each player brings own can of balls (use “foot-racquet” method to return)
  • OPTC Members Only (no Guests at this time)
  • The Clubhouse is CLOSED to ALL (plan accordingly)
  • No water or towels provided (please bring your own)
  • Kindly leave Club after play (so others enjoy!)

COVID-19 Update:
MAY 7, 2020 @1:00pm – OPTC Pending Opening

Dear OPTC Members, Friends and Families,

Thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times.  The OPTC Board has been meeting frequently with the Cook County Forest Preserve (CCFP) Management Team to collaborate for a safe Club opening.

We are in process of gaining approvals from the CCFP General Superintendent and the Office of the President (to open in a manner that adheres to the CDC and State Guidelines for social-distancing and “safe-play” based on USTA COVID-19 guidelines).

When we open, the initial days and weeks of play will be a “different experience” at OPTC, so thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we keep the health and safety of our Members and Staff as the top priority while we comply with all guidelines.

When we attain approval to open (hopefully within the next few days), please prepare to comply with the following “until further notice” protocols (we expect these to ease as time goes by):

  • Only 10 people are allowed on the OPTC grounds any given time (no socializing, leave after play)
  • Singles-play only, 60-minute time limit (when other Members are waiting to play)
  • The Clubhouse is Closed to all – No access to bathrooms, locker rooms, or showers!
  • Bring your own water and towels (the Club will not provide water or towels until further notice)
  • Play is limited to OPTC Members only (no guests allowed until further notice)
  • Each Member is required to have their own can of tennis balls

We are working diligently to bring back Tennis to the OPTC community, and we will communicate official opening as soon as we attain approval.

Thanks again for your patience,
Oak Park Tennis Center Board of Directors

Richard Moore
President OPTC

COVID-19 Update:
APRIL 8, 2020 @5:15pm – OPTC Pending Opening

Due to the “Shelter in Place” order mandated by the State of Illinois (also mandated by the Cook County Forest Preserve who are owners of  the OPTC property), we are on-hold to open the club until further notice (and further State direction coming at the end of April).

We have requested approval to allow our court preparation contractor to conduct their services (with strict guidelines for social distancing), but even if that work can continue, we must wait for approval to open the club at the appropriate time.

Until further notice, neither Staff or Members are allowed in our clubhouse or facility.

The OPTC Board will assess (and propose and adjust) how Memberships will best work for the 2020 season (once we can determine an opening date).

In the meantime, thank you for your support and patience, and we wish you all good health to your family and friends.
